Taa Plans for the Future With 737- 300 Purchase:

Spurred on by the cessation of the 18% investment allowance on June 30, 1985 TAA ended four years of indecision during late May with the announcement that they would be replacing their DC-9 fleet with Boeing 737-300 twinjets.

The $500m purchase represents the first stage of a major re-equipment programme for the government-owned airline. TAA will accept delivery of its first 737-300 in June next year with delivery scheduled for one aircraft each succeeding month thereafter. The 737-300s will be configured in a 112-passenger three-class arrangement utilising the latest in cabin design straight from the popular 757.
