Conquests Conquered?

The August groundings of six Cessna 441 Conquest IIs due to an airframe limit warning could be a major blow for one of the workhorses of Australia’s general aviation fleet if a solution to fatigue cracking problems cannot be found soon.

Until the grounding of the aircraft last year, the Conquests were regarded as a reliable and robust aircraft which served a number of GA operators well. The 34 Conquest turbines on the Australian register were well liked and heavily used by operators as flexible workhorses, often flying to remote and regional communities where its great field performance made it invaluable.
