Nav basics – the mud map
A mud map. What is that you may well ask? The usual definition of a mud map is an informal map …. a roughly drawn map, usually on the ground. In the flight training area a mud map (MM) can be a great asset to assist in the execution of a nav flight.
Now if one were to search the text books few would have any mention of a MM and yet, in the aviation sense, a mud map can be a very useful tool for both navigation students as well as for more experienced pilots.
