Getting the NACC
Program Manager New Air Combat Capability – AVM John Harvey
With Australia committing to an initial buy of 14 F-35A Joint Strike Fighters last November as a prelude to an eventual buy of up to 100 aircraft, the New Air Combat Capability (NACC) office under the leadership of AVM John Harvey is ramping up its activities as it prepares to submit the RAAF’s first Partner Procurement Request (PPR) for the aircraft later this year.
The NACC project office was established in 1999 to study options for the replacement of the RAAF’s F-111C strike aircraft and F/A-18A/B Hornet fighters. At the time, the project office was open to any and all options, including manned and unmanned aircraft or a combination of both, as well as aircraft and missile combinations.
