A GROWING LIST The Canberra Aero Club is one of many aero clubs that no longer conduct pilot training. (Paul Sadler)
Country aero clubs & instructors
In October I attended the Auster fly-in where I got chatting with an Ag pilot. He mentioned that he was keen to become a GA flight instructor but there was a problem, a big problem. Based in central-south NSW he raised a fact that I was broadly aware of but no one had ever discussed in a straight forward manner.
In short he is unable to train for a GA instructor rating at an aero club, and then instruct there, because all the local aero clubs have shut down their GA flight training. .
