Register #400 | Slow but steady growth for commercial fleets

It is soon to become very obvious to any regular reader of the Australian Aviation Magazine – or perhaps only to any particularly avid fans of the Register column – that things are a little different this quarter. CASA has changed how it presents its publicly available data files containing changes to the register, meaning that this month, things were analysed in a far more analogue way than this Millennial writer is used to. It’s apparent to me that my new technique is yet to be perfected, but this is something I certainly intend to change! Until then, please accept my apologies for the diminished analysis this quarter.
With that rather boring disclaimer out of the way, let’s crack on, shall we? The commercial airlines continue to grow at a slow and steady pace, much like they have been for the last 2 years or so. However, despite consistently welcoming new airframes, we’ve failed to see any recent recruitment from the major airlines, which tells us that progress is… slow. In fact, Australia’s flag carrier has slashed corporate jobs across its Qantas and Jetstar HQ in recent weeks, despite reporting record billion-dollar profits… ahem. Moving on.
