National Jet Express (NJE) has added its 12th Dash 8 Q400 to support its WA FIFO operations.
The turboprop, registered VH-8QD, will operate alongside NJE’s eight-strong Embraer E190 fleet in the west, and comes as the carrier plans to add at least two more E-Jets to its fleet this year.

“After arriving in Perth last weekend, the aircraft has today commenced services for NJE’s mining, resources and construction clients, adding additional capacity to support strong demand for NJE’s services around Australia as well as providing additional coverage during periods of scheduled aircraft maintenance,” NJE said in a release.
“The delivery of VH-8QD beings NJE’s fleet dedicated to the provision of passenger charter services to twenty (20) aircraft. NJE anticipates another De Havilland Q400 to join its fleet before the end of the Financial Year.
“This cements NJE’s place as one of Australia’s premier Mining and Resources FIFO charter operators, as well as allowing NJE to increasingly support other charter clients across the sporting, leisure and education sectors.”
The addition of VH-8QD comes after NJE commenced Embraer E190 services to the Nifty copper mine in the Pilbara this month for Cyprium Metals, following the launch of its route to Marble Bar for AIM late last year.
“To meet the increasing demand for our E190 jet services, we intend to increase our E190 fleet by at least another 2 aircraft in this year,” said Alex Ananian-Cooper, NJE’s chief commercial officer.
NJE added its previous two aircraft, both Q400s, to the fleet in late 2025 to “support the continuing growth of NJE’s presence in the Mining, Resources and Construction industries, as well as providing additional coverage during periods of scheduled aircraft maintenance”.
