100 Years of RAAF Richmond

Nestled in the Hawkesbury region about 50 km north-west of Sydney, RAAF Base Richmond is the oldest Royal Australian Air Force base in NSW and the second oldest in the country. • My Grandparents had.Farm on the edge of the field during the 30’s, which was passed onto the government duringWWII, they were given an equal amount of land at Quakers Hill in exchange. As a young child I enjoyed seeing the odd aircraft fly over at low altitude, probably what got me hooked on aviation. I had an amazing life working in aviation, it took me to wonderful places to live, a very adventurous life was delivered.

    Most fortunate..
