Perth Airport has marked its busiest ever year for the second year in a row, with both domestic and international passenger numbers at record highs.
The 2024–25 financial year saw 17.48 million passengers through Perth’s terminals, up 8.5 per cent on the 16.1 million last year. This includes 5.14 million international passengers, up 18.3 per cent on last year, and a new domestic record driven by continued growth in regional travel.

The news comes as Perth proceeds with major works on its “One Airport” program, which is set to move all passenger flights to the Airport Central precinct.
“Our Operations, Terminals and Ground Transport teams have done an amazing job dealing with this increased workload while ensuring we operate safely and securely,” airport chief executive Jason Waters said.
“With these incredibly strong numbers and the continued growth that we are expecting over the next few years, it’s imperative that we keep on track and progressing with our ambitious redevelopment program.
“Over the next decade we will deliver an expanded international terminal, new terminal facilities for Qantas and Jetstar flights, a parallel runway, with associated aprons and taxiways, two multi-storey carparks along with significant access road upgrades, and our first airport hotel.
“This will deliver on the long-held vision for One Airport, which will create greater efficiency for airlines, a better travel experience for passengers, and major economic benefits for Western Australia.”
Perth Airport has hired Western Sydney International Airport designer Woods Bagot to lead its terminal redevelopment project, part of Perth’s $5 billion capital works program.
According to Waters, the first of two multi-storey carparks is already under construction, and the airport has also partnered with Accor to build the city’s first airport hotel.
“Work is also underway at Terminal 2 to add more departure gates and seating, and we are upgrading our retail and food & beverage offering at Terminal 1 International,” he said.
“We’ve also commenced preliminary works for the new parallel runway. The runway will deliver major benefits for airlines, agriculture exporters, the business community, the tourism industry, the resource sector, and the education sector.
“We are also working closely with our airline partners and agencies on the design of the new terminal facilities, including a new terminal for the Qantas Group to relocate to Airport Central.”
The airport last year resolved a long-standing dispute with Qantas over the Flying Kangaroo’s move to Airport Central, paving the way for the works program.
