However, sustained cost-of-living pressures have incited fresh scrutiny of competition levels and consumer protections in key sectors, with the aviation industry being the latest to draw the gaze of regulators.
This domestic pressure is set against escalating geopolitical tensions, and with both sides of the political aisle presenting contesting visions for industry reform, the sector’s path forward is unclear.
The Australian Aviation Summit, to be held on Thursday, 14 August 2025, aims to bring clarity to the current landscape by uniting leading aviation professionals for a jam-packed day of transformation.
In one of the summit’s most highly anticipated sessions titled ‘Observations on the aviation landscape’, industry experts will share exclusive insights and projections of the current and future aviation market.
The session will explore the broad implications of the increased regulatory and geopolitical pressure on the sector.
Our panellists will examine the domestic aviation market through the lens of case studies, including the failures of new market entrants Rex and Bonza, and discuss the tools needed for organisations to thrive in the current environment.
Additionally, the session will assess the impacts of the emerging partnership between Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways to delve into the balance of competition in the domestic aviation sector.
The session will also reference the government’s Aviation White Paper one year on and reflect on what’s been achieved thus far.
The panellists include:
- Rob Walker, chief executive officer at Regional Aviation Association of Australia (RAAA)
- Andrew Warrender, executive general manager, airlines & governance at Newcastle Airport
- James Woodhams, vice president, airborne solutions at Leidos Australia
To hear our leading panellists deep dive into their exclusive insights on the current aviation landscape, come along to the Australian Aviation Summit 2025.
Run in partnership with Principal Partner, Leidos, the event will take place on Thursday, 14 August at Ilumina in Sydney.
