Cathay Pacific will increase to twice-daily flights from Brisbane and Perth to Hong Kong.
Starting 26 October, the airline will increase from 11 to 14 weekly return services between Perth and Hong Kong, and from 12 to 14 between Brisbane and Hong Kong, both year-round.

“Every new service is an opportunity to open more doors for our customers, and we’re proud to serve as a key gateway for both travellers and freight to Hong Kong and beyond from these two cities,” said Cathay regional general manager, Southwest Pacific, Frosti Lau.
“Over the summer when travel numbers soar, Cathay Pacific will be operating over 80 weekly flights from Australia.”
Brisbane Airport’s executive general manager for aviation, Ryan Both, said Cathay Pacific is “one of the world’s great hub carriers” for both passengers and freight.
“Cathay Pacific’s move to double daily flights to Brisbane is fantastic news for Queensland’s tourism industry, delivering more choice and convenience for travellers and strengthening our state’s global connectivity,” he said.
“For exporters, the additional capacity is a major boost. Hong Kong International Airport is the cargo gateway for the world and the front door to the Chinese Mainland, making it a critical link for Queensland businesses looking to reach global markets overnight.”
The expansion of Perth services comes as Cathay marks 55 years of flights into Western Australia, with Perth Airport’s chief commercial and aviation officer, Kate Holsgrove, celebrating the “long-standing partnership”.
“Cathay Pacific plays a crucial role in supporting business travel, as well as making it easier for tourists and international students to come to WA. The airline also plays an important role in connecting to the Chinese Mainland, Japan, Europe and North America,” she said.
“Our partnership continues to grow, which highlights the airline’s ongoing commitment to Perth as a destination.
“The increased number of services results in more than 200,000 seats each way being available on the route per year. It also provides local exporters with crucial cargo capacity between Perth, Hong Kong, North Asia and globally.”
The announcement follows Cathay’s move to bring back services to Adelaide. The airline will operate a seasonal service starting 11 November, flying three times per week on its 280-seat A350-900 fleet until 27 March next year.
The Adelaide route will restore all of Cathay Pacific’s pre-pandemic Australian destinations.
