Hypersonix Launch Systems was selected ahead of 63 entrants by the US Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) for a program testing aircraft that can fly faster than five times the speed of sound.

It follows the company’s inaugural overseas launch failing earlier this year in the UK, and the business reporting an operating loss of $US149 million for the first nine months of 2022.

The “final extension” will alleviate criticism that the decision to cancel credits would see the airline effectively profit from airfares being far higher than pre-pandemic.

The twice-weekly A330 service will operate as VJ83 on Mondays and Fridays, and the airline expects them to bring more than 30,000 Vietnamese visitors to Brisbane in the first year.

Bali is Jetstar’s most popular international destination, with up to 70 return flights per week to seven Australian cities and boosted capacity to Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. 

Melbourne placed 19th on the overall global rankings, up seven places from last year, as well as taking best airport staff in the region. Last year’s regional winner of both categories, Brisbane, slipped one place to 23rd.
