The heads of the Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF), the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA), and the Australian Airports Association (AAA) have written to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese ahead of this week’s Budget urging the Government not to raise the PMC for five years, having received “informal advice” of plans to increase the fee.

Hudson, currently CFO of Qantas, will receive a base annual salary of $1.6 million when she takes over from Joyce in November, which is $600,000 less than Joyce’s current base salary of $2.2 million. She will be eligible for other compensation including bonuses, which would bring her total pay up to $5.8 million – still well shy of Joyce’s total $8.4 million remuneration.

The two parallel north-south runways were shut down, leaving the east-west runway the only one in operation, after the airport was impacted by strong winds early this morning. The runways were reopened by noon as south-westerly winds eased.

The Sunshine Coast to Tamworth route is the 13th and final to launch from the Sunshine Coast as part of Bonza’s initial network plans. The airline is set to fly twice weekly between the two cities, bringing its total flights from the Sunshine Coast base to 39 per week.

The ruling means the two airlines can no longer jointly tender for mining companies’ contracts and must quickly unwind their current deal.
