Parafield Airport has appointed a new executive general manager (EGM) to replace the retiring Sue Trussell.
Tom Ganley, who has almost 35 years of airport experience including as a director and former chair of the Australian Airports Association (AAA), has been Adelaide Airport Ltd’s (AAL) EGM corporate affairs for the past 15 months and will take up the position at Parafield from 1 July.
Ganley previously served as CFO, company secretary and deputy CEO for Airport Development Group, which owns and operates Darwin, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek airports.
“It is a wonderful time to be joining Parafield Airport,” he said. “I am looking forward to working with our many stakeholders and sharing our 20-year Master Plan with the community and 150 airport businesses later this year.”
AAL managing director Brenton Cox said he is “excited and confident” about Ganley’s appointment, and that Ganley had brought “a strong understanding of community, operations, governance and commerciality” to his role at Adelaide Airport.
“Tom will bring his own commercial and business insight to the airport. I would also like to express my gratitude to Sue Trussell who is retiring as Manager Parafield Airport and thank her for her 10 years of service,” said Cox.
Parafield is South Australia’s main general aviation airport, and has been privately run for 25 years. Opening in 1925, it was Adelaide’s first airport and served as the city’s main air gateway until Adelaide Airport opened in 1955.
