Much like the rest of the year, May wasn’t a particularly good time to be an employee in the aviation sector. French manufacturing giant Airbus announced cuts of 10,000 to its workforce, Anglo-German travel firm Tui said it would be axing 8,000 jobs, and Ryanair laid out plans to scrap 3,000. Back home, Qantas staff were more likely than not to be left in limbo – while, needless to say, those at Virgin Australia certainly were.
