WTB – Regional Australia’s biggest little airport
Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport (WTB) is Australia’s newest world-class international airport, and it packs a surprising punch. Sitting just outside of the regional centre of Toowoomba, WTB brings unprecedented connectivity to the Darling Downs and broader south-east Queensland and northern NSW regions, not least through its regular air links to Asia.
Much like Toowoomba itself – a regional “small town” with a population of over 130,000 and counting – Wellcamp Airport is a lot more than meets the eye. This regional airport boasts a runway that is 2.86 kilometres long, regularly seeing planes of all shapes and sizes, from a Diamond DA40 trainer aircraft all the way up to a Boeing 747 Freighter.
WTB is Australia’s first privately-funded public airport, and was the first greenfield public airport to open in 40 years. Established in 2014 by family-owned and Queensland-based infrastructure company Wagner Corporation, WTB is a multi-award-winning international airport, recognised for its focus on sustainability and innovation.
