TWO MAJOR FORMATION FLYING FIRSTS
March and April saw two formation firsts that had not happened in Australia since WWII. The Temora Showcase day of 6 March saw three Supermarine Spitfires flying together in a tight formation. This was part of the Temora Showcase day at Temora that day. Next the Wangaratta Historic Motor Show & FlyIn event on 18 April had three Curtiss P-40 fighters together in formation as they flew low past the spectator audience, most not realising that they were watching history in front of them.
WANT TO BUY A MUSTANG?
From New Zealand we learn that North American P-51D Mustang, ZK-TAF, is for sale. The owner, Graham Bethell, has advertised the aircraft for sale due to, in his own words, advancing age of the owner. The machine has a total time of 1,600 hours. It is powered by a Packard Merlin with a top overhaul just completed. It has been used for adventure flying joyrides.
