A Royal Australian Air Force F-35A Lightning II took to the skies above Sydney Harbour on Wednesday, 26 January, to mark Australia Day 2022.

The F-35A took off to coincide with the last note of the Australian Anthem, during a Salute to Australia at 12pm, and performed for around 15 minutes.

It was one of a number of flight displays scheduled by the Australian Defence Force to take place on Australia Day, with flypasts also organised in regional NSW, Melbourne CBD, Townsville, Darwin, Perth and the ACT.

As part of the Sydney Harbour celebrations, the RAAF F-35A was also joined by a Royal Australian Navy MH-60R Seahawk Romeo helicopter.

The RAN Romeo performed additional air displays over the harbour between 11:30am and 1:30pm, with an Australian flag in tow.
