Back in Business
This month, a Guimbal Cabri G2, Gulfstream G150 and Sikorsky Black Hawk UHS join a wide selection of new entrants in the register
A very broad selection of New Allocations this issue covering used airliners, helicopters, hot air balloons and ex-military aircraft. Perhaps the most interesting is Raptor Aviation’s Heliopolis Gomhouria BEZ. The type started life as the Bucker Bu181 Bestmann and was named for workers and deck crew on German coastal or fishing vessels. The prototype made its first flight during February 1939 and was subsequently named as the standard primary trainer for the Luftwaffe. Production began the following year and more than 1,500 aircraft were completed, including licence-built examples by Fokker in the Netherlands and Zlin in Czechoslovakia.
The Bestmann was a single engine, low wing monoplane with fixed tailwheel undercarriage, two side-by-side seats and dual controls. The cabin section of the airframe was of tubular steel while the rear fuselage had a wooden shell. The wings, tail unit, rudders, elevators and ailerons were wooden and the whole aircraft was fabric covered. It was fully stressed for aerobatics and it was powered by a 78kW (105hp) Hirth HM500 engine.
