Parkes Shire Council is currently seeking expressions of interest to lease stage one of the Parkes Airport Business Park, located at the Parkes Regional Airport in central NSW.

The Parkes Regional Airport is a major gateway to the region, located a three-minute drive east of Parkes, off the Henry Parkes Way (Orange Road). The airport is serviced by Regional Express (Rex), which provides regular passenger services between Parkes and Sydney. Rex transports some 35,000 passengers annually.

Chair of the Parkes Airport Committee Cr Alan Ward said, “Over the past four years, Parkes Shire Council has undertaken a $3 million redevelopment of the Parkes Regional Airport precinct, including new runway lighting, a refurbished and expanded airport terminal with security regime readiness.

“Stage one development of the Business Park covers a total of four acres of land, suitable for a range of uses including charter airlines, aviation maintenance providers, courier companies, pilot training, manufacturing business to name just a few.”

Land available ranges in size from 1,700 square metres to 3,029 square metres with long-term leasehold tenure, appropriately zoned and serviced, with no noise restrictions and approved for 24-hour operation.

The seven available sites have airside location, access to two runways, each one mile long. The internal roads are fully serviced and accessible by B-Double trucks. The airport itself is home to on site Nav Aids, DME VOR, PAPI, RTIL and refuellers.

“Parkes’ unique and central location at the crossroads of the nation’s north-south Newell Highway and the east-west transcontinental rail line puts 80 per cent of Australia’s population within reach overnight. Add to this construction of Inland Rail and the state government’s establishment of the first Special Activation Precinct (SAP) in Parkes, make the Parkes Airport Business Park a perfect fit for your business or service footprint,” said Cr Ward.

These unique characteristics deliver unprecedented efficiencies and major investment opportunities for transport and logistic operators, manufacturers, freight forwarders, agri-businesses, service industries, importers, exporters and more. The SAP will be the centre of Australian national logistics and it creates wonderful competitive advantage for any business requiring national distribution.

    says:

With the advent of the massive National Rail Logistics Hub at Parkes there is now ample scope to increase Airfreight activity at the Airport there but the runways would have to be extended in order to make the operation viable. This would decrease congestion and costs at the coastal majors and have a major positive effect for the region at the same time.

Congratulations to Parkes Shire on this project

  • Cowra, also in the Central West of NSW and 311km from Sydney, won’t be too far behind, although they currently lack an RPT airline service.
