Qantas is offering return flights from Sydney to Los Angeles for $859 and Sydney to San Francisco for $869.
The deal, part of the carrier’s Fly Away flash sale, requires customers to book economy before 9 March, and comes as the aviation industry is facing increasing economic pressure.

The price drop to LAX is for trips booked for:
- 4–26 March;
- 23 April – 16 June;
- 10 July – 8 September; or
- 30 September – 27 November.
Last week Air New Zealand offered similar aggressive price drops to stimulate demand, with trans-Tasman flights reduced to just $66.
