Flights departing from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth are among 670 cancelled by Singapore Airlines due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Reduced demand caused by the virus will see 96 routes affected from 3 March to 31 May and includes subsidiary SilkAir.
The action follows an earlier announcement of reduced flights to Hong Kong as well as widescale disruption to other Asian brands such as Cathay Pacific, Asiana and Hong Kong Airlines.
A Singapore Airlines statement simply said, “Affected customers will be notified and re-accommodated onto other flights.”
Other destinations affected include services to Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo, Jakarta, Mumbai and Seoul.
A full list of cancellations can be viewed on the airline’s website here.
Singapore Airlines advised those who booked flights in the autumn to continue to check its website and Facebook page. It added that those who booked a ticket through a travel agency should contact their agent for assistance.
The announcement comes after Singapore Airlines earlier announced cuts to flights from Singapore to China and Hong Kong. Specifically, the Hong Kong stopover between Singapore and San Francisco will be scrapped between 17 February and 28 March.
It follows a string of other cancellations and disruption affecting fellow Asian airlines.
