Jacobson will front the Linfox Group-owned Avalon Airport’s marketing campaign to drive more business to the regional hub, which is located 50kms from the Melbourne CBD.

The airport is currently served by Jetstar Airways and AirAsia X, and is well known as the home of the largest airshow in Australia, the biennial Australian International Airshow.

Avalon Airport CEO Justin Giddings said the company was thrilled to have one of Australia’s best stars representing Avalon Airport.

“We’re honoured to have Shane Jacobson on board as a brand ambassador. He is just the perfect fit for Avalon Airport. He is well-loved, warm, friendly, funny and an all-round good bloke,” Giddings said.

“With Shane’s help, we want to educate Victorians and bring awareness to the fact that it’s easier to travel with Avalon Airport,” he said.

Giddings said the partnership was one of the first of many announcements to come in 2020 related to the expansion of the airport.

The first flight from Bali arrived over the weekend from Indonesian airline Citilink, which, effective 24 January 2020, will offer daily flights between Avalon and Denpasar, Bali.

VietJet Air is expected to commence flights to Vietnam from Avalon in the second half of 2020.
