Red Bull Air Race world champion Matt Hall is throwing open the doors to his hangar at Lake Macquarie Airport this Sunday for a public open day.

The open day follows the recent arrival of his championship winning race plane to Australia.

Hall is the only Australian to have competed in the visually spectacular Red Bull Air Race World Championship, culminating in the Newcastle local claiming his first title in Chiba, Japan in September.

In a career that spanned eight seasons Hall won seven races, accumulated 30 podium finishes and was crowned the 10th champion of the sport, which was founded in 2003.

This Sunday, December 8, Hall has invited the public to celebrate Australia’s first air race crown and will be taking the opportunity to deliver one of his highly sought-after keynote talks.

Hall will also hold a question-and-answer session and be available for pictures and a meet-and-greet with visitors.

Excitingly, the Aussie ace will also be giving away an exclusive aerobatic joy flight experience with himself in the team’s two-seater race plane. Only those attending will be eligible to win.

Highlighting the day will be the opportunity for the public to get a close-up look at Hall’s championship winning Zivko Edge 540 V3 race plane, his former MXS-R racer and a collection of his trophies – including the world championship trophy.

During the event, there will also be a select number of opportunities for visitors to go flying in the two-seater plane, with the aerobatic flights being conducted by one of Hall’s skilled joy flight pilots.

The Matt Hall Racing World Championship celebration event begins at 1100 on Sunday December 8 at Lake Macquarie Airport, 60 minutes north of Sydney and 25 minutes from Newcastle.

Entry is free and parking is available on site. For those wishing to fly into the event, a registration form found on the Matt Hall Racing website.
