Tickets are now on sale for the 2019 Sydney Airport runway run that aims to raise money for Surf Life Saving Sydney.
Launched in 2015, the annual charity event gives runners and aviation enthusiasts alike the opportunity to tread on the same piece of pavement on which aircraft take off and land. Sydney Airport said it expected about 1,000 people to take part.

The 2019 event will be held on Saturday November 23. The day will feature six races – a dash for “nippers”, an all-age relay, a family run, a race for airport staff, a sprint and a Surf Life Saving Sydney “club versus club” patrol race.
The day will also include food, entertainment and family activities.
Sydney Airport chief executive Geoff Culbert encouraged everyone to “save the date” for this year’s runway run.

“We’re really proud of our 18-year partnership with Surf Life Saving Sydney. They’re not only training kids to keep our beaches safe, they’re also investing in our future leaders.
“It’s great to see the community get behind the runway run. It’s a fun day out shared with family and friends, while raising funds for a good cause.”
Surf Life Saving Sydney president Peter Agnew said the event would raise funds to assist frontline lifesavers keep the city’s beaches safe heading into summer.
“We’re proud to head into our 18th year of partnership with Sydney Airport and to be part of the airport’s Centenary celebrations,” Agnew said.
