Warbirds, classic aircraft, museum and airshow news
The Big One – Avalon
The big event for this issue is coverage of the Australian International Airshow 2019 held by Airshows Downunder at Avalon Airport, Victoria. The airshow is the biggest and arguably the best held in Australia and attracts both airshow acts from overseas as well as aircraft from various overseas military forces.
For some of the spectators the jets and big airliners do not generate as much interest as the warbirds, antiques, classics and related exhibits, be they groundborne or airborne. This year was no exception. Coupled with these was the auction of ADF hardware in the form of five PC-9 aircraft, a number of former Army Kiowa helicopters and even a Wasp helicopter. For those ground-based people a number of Landrover vehicles were also on sale.
