Smart appearance and good attiude mean business
It was while I was closing off an aircraft retract endorsement that a young fellow came up to the aircraft as I waited for my student to dip the tanks. The young guy would have been about 19 years old and wore the pilot shirt of a flying school at the airport.
We got into conversation and it turned out he was a flying instructor. His long-term plans were to be an airline pilot. Hmm! I thought. Here he was with hands in pockets, shoes that were long overdue for a polish, long hair, and a pilot shirt that was in need of a hot iron. At least he had had a shave.
