So you want to be an airline pilot?

There are two quotes that stand out from the aftermath of one of the most significant episodes in Australian commercial aviation this century: the saving of Qantas Flight 32 and its 440 passengers and 29 crew after an uncontained engine explosion and subsequent multiple systems failure.

First: “The best way to be a pilot is to get to the point where the airframe feels like an exoskeleton; like an extension of your body and mind.”
Second: ”There is a need for good training of pilots. We are not just glorified bus drivers.”
