Grumman Avenger Lost in Us Crash

Former Australian Grumman TBM-3E Avenger, VH-VTB, was lost in an engine related crash in the US.

The big torpedo bomber, registered as N337VT, was being flown from Phoenix, Arizona to Chicago over a mountain range on the White River Reservation, Arizona, on Saturday May 7 when the owner-pilot, Ronald Carlson, detected a loud bang noise from the P&W R-2800 engine followed by a big smoke plume.
