Rather a large New Allocations section this issue as it covers two months instead of the usual one. Five new types are shown with by far the most interesting being the Historical Aircraft Preservation Society’s (HARS) Convair Samaritan TAA.

During WWII Convair played a leading role in wartime production of the Liberator, Catalina, Vengeance and Privateer but as the war came to an end the company started looking to enter the civil market place with a newly designed 48 seat fuselage mated to the wings and tail of the Privateer. Two prototypes were built but orders were not forthcoming and both aircraft were later scrapped. At the time American Airlines were looking at a DC-3 replacement so Convair came up with the Model 110 which was a twin engine, low-wing, unpressurised, all-metal design incorporating a tricycle undercarriage and a retractable entry staircase.
