Peter Pendergast’s PP108 XSK is the only new type listed in the New Allocations this issue. Peter has designed and built the fully-aerobatic aircraft from the ground up, but he has taken design features from the Edge 540, Extra 300 and DR107 One Design.
The PP108’s fuselage is of chrome moly tubular construction, with fabric covering the rear fuselage while from the pilot forward carbon fibre panels are used. The all-timber wings are ply covered with an outer skin of fibreglass for protection and finish. A Sky Dynamics modified Lycoming AEIO-540 engine has been fitted driving a Whirlwind 400AC propeller. The engine is an air-cooled, six-cylinder, horizontally-opposed powerplant with fuel injection and has an inverted lubrication system. The project has taken Peter about two and a half years to complete and at the time of writing it had only flown about two and a half hours.
