Only one new type is shown in the New Allocations this issue, the latest development of the Diamond Twin Star.
VMX is Hawker Pacific’s Diamond Twin Star VI demonstrator which, at the time of going to press, has completed a sales tour of Australia and had started on its New Zealand tour. The aircraft has the names of operators in Australia and New Zealand that currently fly Twin Stars on the tail and a line of flags along the fuselage indicating where Diamond aircraft have been sold. The Twin Star is powered by two 168hp (126kW) Austro AE300 turbodiesel Jet-A1-fuelled engines and was flown from the Diamond factory in Austria to Australia through Europe, the Middle East and Asia to demonstrate its improved range and performance. Along with a strengthened undercarriage and new MT three-blade constant speed propellers the aircraft has a 100kg payload increase, Garmin G1000 glass cockpit, LED landing lights and some minor aerodynamic airframe enhancements.
