The Scaled Composites Model 328 SpaceShipOne made two further flights on September 29 and October 4 to claim the US$10 million Ansani X prize by exceeding the minimum 328,000ft (99,975m) altitude requirement on both flights and completing them in less than 14 days.

On the second flight flown by Brian Binnie the aircraft reached 367,442ft (111,996m) breaking the unofficial 354,200ft (107,960m) world altitude record set by Joseph A Walker in the Bell X-15 on August 22 1963.
