Part 61 now in place
September 1. As I write this column the new Part 61 regulations have just come into effect. August 31 was an interesting day with me writing up no fewer than six sticky labels for logbooks. All were for first twin ratings. Outside on the airport there seemed to be a continuous procession of twins doing rating endorsements to get in before the clock ticked past midnight. With the new day the first twin candidate now has to fly with an ATO, now a flying examiner, and be up for a flight test fee.
There has been a constant flow of briefings from our friends at CASA on how the new regulations will operate. In case of doubt do make contact with CASA for advice. Best to ask rather than blunder in the dark.
