Traffic

VH-OGH City of Parramatta was delivered to Qantas in Sydney on December 23 ’90. It initially ferried from Seattle to Honolulu as QF7638P and then operated QF531 from Honolulu to Sydney.

A380-842 VH-OQB, which had been in Manila for maintenance since May 4, ferried from there to Hong Kong as QF6015 on June 29. VH-OQB returned to Qantas service that evening when it operated QF128 to Sydney (arriving June 30).

A380-842 VH-OQC operated QF127 from Sydney to Hong Kong on June 29 and then ferried to Manila as QF6003 for planned maintenance at Lufthansa Technik.

747-438 VH-OJO, which has been in storage at Victorville since April 17 ’12, was cancelled from the register on June 18 as ‘exported to the USA’.

747-438ER VH-OEG departed Sydney on June 4 as QF6023 to Hong Kong for planned maintenance. VH-OEG departed Hong Kong on June 24 as QF6024 to Sydney (arrive June 25) on completion of its maintenance.

A330-202 VH-EBB changed its registered operator on May 26 from Jetstar to Qantas.

VH-EBB, which was withdrawn from Jetstar service on May 4 (Traffic/June), has since been under maintenance in Brisbane while being prepared for service with Qantas. On June 26 as QF6005 the aircraft wasferried from Brisbane to Singapore where it was painted in Qantas colours and named Albany.

A330-202 VH-EBS was named Swan Valley while under maintenance in Singapore in May.

737-838 VH-XZM, which was registered to Qantas on March 18, was planned for delivery in early August.

737-838 VH-VXU ferried out of Melbourne on June 20 to Darwin and Seletar where the aircraft was repainted in the current Qantas livery. It returned to Melbourne on July 3 from Seletar and Darwin as QF6014.

QantasLink withdrew Dash 8-202 VH-SDE from service on May 9 after the aircraft operated QF2193 from Moree to Sydney. On May 20 it operated a local flight from Sydney to Sydney as QF2712 before being cancelled from the register on June 5. Later registered C-FEAQ to Avmax Aircraft Leasing of Calgary the Dash 8 with its Qantas titles and kangaroo removed departed Sydney on July 1 for Pago Pago and Honolulu.

VH-SDE, then registered N453DS, was delivered to Sunstate Airlines in Brisbane on October 12 ’01 after the aircraft ferried in from Toronto via Concord/CA, Honolulu and Majuro. VH-SDE entered service with Sunstate on October 30 ’01 when it operated QF2404 from Brisbane to Blackwater and Emerald.

Dash 8-202 VH-SDA was withdrawn from service on May 13 after the aircraft operated QF2261 from Lord Howe Island to Sydney.

On May 23 it operated a local flight from Sydney to Sydney as QF2711 before being cancelled from the register on June 5.

Later registered C-FEBU to Avmax Aircraft Leasing of Calgary the Dash 8-202 with its Qantas titlesand kangaroo removed departed Sydney on July 1 for Pago Pago and Honolulu.

VH-SDA was delivered to Sunstate Airlines in Brisbane on April 25 ’98 and entered service on June 5 ’98 when it operated QF2400 from Brisbane to Emerald. On June 24 ’98 it was christened Torres Strait in a ceremony at Horn Island.

The sale of VH-SDA and VH‑SDE reduces the QantasLink Dash 8-200 fleet to three aircraft: VH-TQG, VH-TQS and VH-TQX.

Qantas Freight ferried 737‑376(SF) VH-XMO from Perth to Seletar on June 6 as QF7301 for planned maintenance. While at Seletar VH-XMO, which had arrived in Australian air Express livery, was painted in the colours of Qantas Freight.

737-376(SF) VH-XMR is the last of type in the Qantas Freight fleet to carry the colours of Australian air Express.

Jetstar took delivery of 787-8 VHVKF at Melbourne on July 3 after the aircraft ferried in direct from Paine Field as JQ7878.

787-8 VH-VKH msn 36233, which is being built at Charleston, South Carolina was registered to Jetstar on May 26.

A320-232 VH-VQX has terminated its lease (Traffic/July) with the aircraft cancelled from the register on June 13 as ‘exported to Ireland’.

VH-VQX as JQ902 was delivered to Newcastle from Singapore and Brisbane on March 14 ’05. Prior to delivery to Newcastle the aircraft operated with Jetstar Asia as 9V-VQX. VH-VQX entered service with Jetstar on March 23 ’05 when it operated JQ634 from Melbourne to Maroochydore.

A320-232 VH-VQD was withdrawn from service on May 3 after operating JQ714 from Hobart to Melbourne. On May 4 it was ferried from Melbourne to Darwin and Seletar for end of lease maintenance and on June 26 was noted at Seletar in the colours of Aircalin and registered F-OZNC.

A320-232 VH-VQE as JQ7992 returned to Melbourne from Singapore on June 10 on completion of its planned maintenance.

A320-232 VH-VQP ferried into Melbourne on June 6 as JQ7992 from Singapore and Darwin on completion of its maintenance.

A320-232 VH-VQU as JQ7992 ferried out of Melbourne on June 4 to Darwin and Singapore for planned maintenance. On completion it returned to Melbourne from Singapore as JQ7992 on June 23.

A320-232 VH-VQW ferried out of Melbourne on June 18 as JQ7995 to Darwin and Singapore for planned maintenance. On completion it returned to Melbourne from Singapore as JQ7990 on June 26.

A320-232/S msn 6198 is reported to be planned for delivery to Jetstar in August.

Jetstar Hong Kong, which has a number of aircraft in storage at Toulouse, has found a new home for the prospective B-KJI msn 5928 with the aircraft leased to Tianjin Airlines. On June 18 now registered B-1850 the A320 departed Toulouse for Astana and Tianjin. This aircraft was also reported as being a candidate for delivery to Jetstar Australia as VH‑XHN, but it was never registered as such.

Network Aviation has withdrawn from service and terminated its leases on EMB‑120ERs VH-TFX, VH‑TWF and VH-TWZ.

VH-TFX departed Perth on June 2 with the all-white aircraft ferrying to Leinster via Darwin.

VH-TWF also departed Perth on June 2 on ferry to Alice Springs where it became the first aircraft to use thestorage facilities provided by Asia Pacific Aircraft Storage.

VH-TWZ ferried from Perth to Adelaide on June 11.

The departure of the three EMB-120ERs leaves Network with VH-NHA, VH‑NHC, VH-NHY and VH‑NHZ.

Airline news

In this issue we report the delivery of the first 787-9 to Air New Zealand while departing was an Air New Zealand Link Beech 1900D.

Aircalin commenced flights between Noumea and Melbourne effective June 6 with A320-232 F-OJSB operating the inaugural SB110/111.

Aircalin will have added A320‑232 F-OZNC msn 3547 ex VH-VQD to its fleet by the time this is read. Photos of the aircraft taken in Singapore show the aircraft carrying a new Aircalin colour scheme.

Air New Zealand registered its first 787-9 ZK-NZE on July 1 and on July 11 as NZ6789 it was delivered to Auckland from Paine Field.

777-319ER ZK-OKR, which was delivered to Auckland on June 8 (Traffic/July), entered service on June 18 when it operated NZ56 from Auckland to Nadi.

767-319ER/W ZK-NCI returned to Auckland from Hong Kong as NZ6080 on June 15 after completing planned maintenance (Traffic/July).

Air New Zealand Link/Eagle Airways cancelled Beech 1900D ZK-EAL msn UE-435 (Traffic/July) from the register on June 27 as ‘exported’. The Beech 1900D was later registered ZS-EAA and on July 4 it departed Hamilton for Norfolk Island before continuing the following day to Brisbane, Mount Isa, Darwin and Denpasar (arriving July 6).

Air New Zealand Link/Air Nelson rolled out Dash 8-311 ZK‑NEQ in the new Air New Zealand colour scheme at Christchurch on July 7.

Air Niugini ferried Fokker 100 P2-ANE from Port Moresby to Darwin, Denpasar and Seletar on June 3 as PX6392 for planned maintenance.

Fiji Airways ferried 737-8X2 DQ-FJG from Nadi to Guam and Hong Kong as FJ2001 on May 5 for planned maintenance. It returned to Nadi on June 17 from Hong Kong and Guam as FJ2002.

Transpacific Heavylift Airlines scheduled DC‑8‑73F OB-2059-P to operate a freight service from Brisbane to Nauru on June 11. From Nauru the aircraft, using the callsign ‘Peruvian 700’, then ferried to Papeete and Lima for planned maintenance. The DC-8-73F returned to Brisbane from Pago Pago on June 23 on completion of its maintenance.

Virgin Group news

Virgin Australia registered A330‑243 VH-XFJ msn 1561 on June 13.

737-8FE VH-VUI returned to service on June 3 as VOZ362 from Townsville to Brisbane after being painted in Virgin Australia colours by Flying Colours. While in Townsville VH-VUI was named Kewarra Beach.

737-8FE VH-VUJ operated VOZ383 from Brisbane to Townsville on June 2 and on arrival entered the Flying Colours hangar for painting in Virgin Australia colours. VH-VUJ now named Rosebud Beach returned to service on June 15 when it operated VOZ362 from Townsville to Brisbane.

737-8FE VH-VUL was not withdrawn from service in Brisbane on May 28 as reported in Traffic/July. On June 18 it returned to service when it operated VOZ334 from Brisbane to Melbourne. 737-8BK VH-VUN operated VOZ379 from Brisbane to Townsville on June 14 and on arrival entered the Flying Colours hangar for painting in Virgin Australia colours. On June 27 VH‑VUN now named Carrickalinga Beach ferried from Townsville to Brisbane as VOZ9938.

E190-100IGW VH-ZPI as flight VOZ9902 arrived in Brisbane from Madras, Subang and Darwin on June 6 after completion of planned maintenance at Alverca, Portugal. While in Portugal VH‑ZPI was painted in Virgin Australia colours and named Seven Mile Beach.

E190-100IGW VH-ZPJ as flight VOZ9901 departed Brisbane on June 9 for Darwin, Seletar, Madras and en-route stops to Alverca for planned maintenance.

Virgin Australia Regional Airlines will reportedly add a further two Fokker 100s to its fleet. Fokker 100 VH-FZH msn 11303, which was previously operated by Mexicana Click as XA-JXT, is planned for delivery in July and will be followed by Fokker 100 VH-FZI msn 11333, which was operated by Mexicana Click as XA-SHK.

ATR 72-600 VH-VPI Bronte Beach, which was delivered to Perth on September 17 ’13 and was then stored in Townsville from November 6 ’13 to April 29, finally entered service on June 16 when it operated VOZ1701 from Brisbane to Bundaberg.

Regional airline news

In this issue we report the delivery of a Beech 1900D to Awesome Aviation and a Cessna 208B to Tasfast Air Freight.

Air Chathams has leased Convair 580 ZK-CIE to Real Tongan Airlines with the aircraft ferrying from Auckland to Nuku’alofa on June 19.

Awesome Aviation took delivery of Beech 1900D V5-WAV msn UE-108 at Perth on June 24 after the aircraft ferried in from Denpasar and Broome. The Beech 1900D is planned to be registered VH-YBH.

Awesome Aviation, which had leased Beech 1900Ds VH-VAZ and VH-VNT and Beech 1900C VH-EMK to Vincent Aviation (Australia), again became the registered owner of the aircraft on May 28.

Chrishine Nominees of Geraldton became the registered operator of the former Vincent Aviation (Australia) Beech 1900D VH-VAQ on June 10.

Fiji Link took delivery of ATR 72-600 DQ-FJZ in Suva on June 6 (Traffic/July) and placed the aircraft into service on June 16 when it operated FJ263 from Nadi to Port Vila.

Pelican Airlines has leased Jetstream 32EPs VH-OTE and VH-OTF to Real Tonga Airlines (see below).

Real Tonga Airlines took delivery of VH-OTF in Nuku’alofa on June 20 after the aircraft completed a two-day ferry from Bankstown via Brisbane, Noumea and Nadi. VH-OTF, which has been leased from Pelican Airlines, was delivered still wearing the distinctive Pelican colour scheme.

VH-OTE was planned for delivery to Real Tonga in July.

Convair 580 ZK-CIE has been leased from Air Chathams with theaircraft arriving at Nuku’alofa from Auckland on June 19.

Tasfast Air Freight registered Cessna 208B VH‑POV msn 208B1182 on June 10 and on June 28 it was delivered to Moorabbin from Denpasar, Darwin, Alice Springs and Broken Hill.

Bizjet news

In this issue we report the delivery of a Falcon 20F-5 and a Sovereign, while departing were an Ultra and a Premier.

Falcon 20F-5 VH-FAI serial no 380 was registered to Falconair of Beaconsfield, NSW on June 11 and on July 6 it was delivered to Bankstown from Hanoi, Denpasar, Darwin and the Gold Coast.

Cessna 680 Sovereign VH‑ZEK serial no 680-0012 was registered on June 24 to Silver Linings Aviation of Rydalmere, NSW. The Sovereign then registered N680VP, has been in the country since October 2 ’13 when delivered to Aeromil Australia at Bankstown.

Premier I VH-TMA which was registered to Cleary Bros (Bombo) of Port Kembla, NSW has been sold in South Africa. It departed Bankstown on May 20 and was later noted ferrying from Darwin to Denpasar on May 22. VH-TMA was cancelled from the register on June 5.

Pratt Aviation Citation Ultra N860CR has reportedly returned to operations in the United States and on June 15 departed Essendon for Brisbane, Nadi, Apia, Christmas Island and Honolulu. N860CR was delivered to Essendon on November 17 ’06.

CitationJet CJ3 P2-MEH was delivered to Tropicair of Boroko, PNG in Port Moresby on June 9 after the aircraft arrived from Bankstown via Archerfield and Cairns.

Previously registered ZK‑TBM (Traffic/January) the CitationJet arrived at Bankstown on September 3 ’13 where it was registered VH-ARZ on November 3 ‘13.

Asia Pacific Jets Nextant 400XTi VH-OVS, which is based at Seletar, operated a medevac flight to Perth in our review period. Using the callsign ‘Medic 88’ it arrived at Perth from Subang and Denpasar on June 12 and departed to Denpasar on June 13.

Cessna 680 Sovereign X N510WD, which was demonstrated in Australia from March 1-8 (Traffic/May), returned for a second demonstration tour of Australia, New Caledonia and New Zealand in June. It arrived at Bankstown from Seletar and Darwin on June 9 before departing on June 11 to Brisbane and Toowoomba.

On June 12 the Sovereign X departed Brisbane for Noumea and after overnighting continued to Queenstown, Dunedin and Auckland before returning to Brisbane. On June 14 it departed for Mackay and Perth before continuing to Seletar on June 16.

Beechjet 400A VH-BZL changed its registered operator to Helistar Aviation of West Beach, South Australia on May 16.

TBM 900 N198JJ msn 1016 arrived at Jandakot on June 10 from Seletar, Denpasar and Broome. The TBM 900 which is the first of its type in Australia was registered VH-LZJ on June 26 with the holder a resident of Singapore and the operator a resident of Western Australia.

PC-12/45 VH-YDO changed its registered owner to Pro Star Pilatus Center of Londonderry,New Hampshire on April 4 and on June 26 was noted at Adelaide carrying the marks N15NE.

King Air B200 VH-NJS BB‑1178 was registered on June 25 with the holder Trailfinders of Cairns and the operator Hinterland Aviation of Cairns. Then registered ZK-LRJ the aircraft had earlier been delivered to Cairns on May 30 (Traffic/July).

King Air 200GT N57BY msn BY-57, which was on delivery to a local owner, arrived at Ardmore on July 4 from Denpasar, Broome, Alice Springs, Sydney and Auckland. The ferry flight from the US to New Zealand was operated by Rangeflyers.

King Air 350i N871EU continued its demonstration tour of New Zealand and Australia in this period (Traffic/July). It departed Cairns for Townsville on June 2 and was later noted at Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sydney, Essendon and Adelaide before returning to Bankstown on June 13. N871EU departed Bankstown for Ceduna, Kalgoorlie and Perth on June 21 before continuing to Alice Springs on June 24 and Cairns on June 25. After overnighting it departed to Port Moresby and Darwin before continuing to Lombok on June 27 on conclusion of its tour.

Gulfstreams galore

Daisho Gulfstream 650 N712KT arrived at Brisbane from Haneda on June 9 before continuing to Sydney on June 13. It departed Sydney for Nagoya on June 15.

N712KT, which was previously registered N880MD, was registered on April 10 ’14 and it replaces Gulfstream 550 N712KT which was re-registered N712DA on March 12 ‘14.

Honeywell Aircraft Leasing Gulfstream 650 N922H arrived in Darwin from Beijing on June 6 and departed to Subang on June 9.

Penske Racing Gulfstream 550 N1RP arrived in Brisbane from Honolulu on June 9 and after overnighting continued to Perth. It later visited Adelaide, Essendon and Sydney before departing Brisbane for Auckland on June 15.

Melvin Simon and Associates Gulfstream 550 N63HS arrived in Sydney from Don Muang on June 29.

M S Financing Gulfstream 550 N168NJ arrived in Melbourne from Honolulu on June 20 before returning to Honolulu on June 25.

Lowes Companies Falcon 7X N55LC arrived in Sydney from Queenstown on June 26 before continuing to Adelaide on June 29 and Kununurra on July 1.

Air Alsie Falcon 7X OY-TSS callsign ‘Mermaid 3207’ arrived inPerth from Subang on June 13 before returning to Subang on June 16.

EHC Holdings Falcon 900LX N311JA arrived in Brisbane from Port Vila on June 19 before continuing to Essendon on June 22, Adelaide on June 26 and Brisbane on June 30.

DLR Flugbetriebe Falcon 20E‑5 D-CMET arrived in Christchurch on June 28 from Bandar Seri Begawan, Darwin, Cairns and Sydney. It then commenced a series of flights out of Christchurch on June 30 in connection with operation Deepwave.

Executive Aviation Hawker 800B HS-EMG, which was operating a medevac flight, arrived in Mackay from Johor Bahru and Darwin on June 17. After overnighting it departed Mackay for Darwin and Seletar.

Ferry flights

AT-802A N8517Q arrived at the Gold Coast on June 13 after being ferried by SRD Aviation from South St Paul via Denver/Centennial, Santa Maria, Honolulu, Majuro and Honiara.

Beech D-18S N43927 departed Stockton/California for Hilo on June 9 on what was to be a 14-hour leg on its ferry flight to Vanuatu. From Hilo the Beech, which is registered to Southern Aircraft Consultancy of Suffolk, UK continued to Christmas Island and Pago Pago before arriving at Pekoa, Espiritu Santo on June 16.

Airwork NZ BK117A-4 ZK‑HNB ferried from Redcliffe to Horn Island between June 17 and 19 with the aircraft noted at Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns and Cooktown.

Photo Survey Cessna 310Q ZK‑DEM arrived at Redcliffe on June 20 from Kerikeri, Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island and the Gold Coast. It departed Recliffe on June 23 for Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island and Kerikeri.

Sandar Geophysics Cessna 208B C-GSGA arrived in Cairns from Port Moresby on June 24 before continuing to Cloncurry on June 27.

Cessna 206H VH-PMH, which has been sold in New Zealand, departed Port Macquarie for Lord Howe Island on June 18 before continuing to Kerikeri on June 20.

ARKeX DHC-6-300 N162DE arrived in Darwin on June 16 fromDon Muang, Subang, Halim and Kupang and after overnighting continued to Horn Island and Port Moresby. The aircraft, which is fitted with a MAD boom, previously visited Australia in January ’13.

GA8-TC 320 VH-BYI departed Tamworth on June 8 for the Gold Coast, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island and after overnighting continued to Kerikeri where it commenced a demonstration tour of New Zealand. On conclusion of the tour the GA8 departed Kerikeri for Norfolk Island on June 24 before continuing the following day to Lord Howe Island and the Gold Coast.

Four aircraft which were on flights around the world transited Australia in this period.

PA-24 Comanche C-FYHU arrived in Darwin from Kupang on June 14 before continuing to Broome, Carnarvon and Jandakot. It was reported at a number of other airfields in Australia before departing the Gold Coast for Port Vila on June 30.

Vans RV-8A F-PMHJ departed Noumea on June 19 for the Gold Coast, Townsville, Darwin and Denpasar where it arrived on June 23.

Beech A36 N367HP arrived in Darwin from Manila on July 3 before continuing to Brisbane on July 4 and Nadi on July 6.

PC-12/47E N58NG arrived in Darwin from Seletar on July 6 and continued the following day to Nadzab.

National Air Cargo 747-428 N919CA as flight NCR908 arrived at Darwin from Iwakuni on June 7 before returning to Iwakuni as NCR909 on June 8. The 747 as NCR910 arrived again at Darwin from Iwakuni on June 8 before departing for Hong Kong as NCR912 on June 9.

Omni Aviation 767-328 N342AX as flight CMB454 arrived at Darwin from Iwakuni on June 3 and departed to Honolulu again as CMB454 on June 4.

National Airlines 757-28A N176CA as flight NCR9176 arrived in Darwin from Iwakuni on July 6.

US Marines KC-130J 167925/QD ‘Sumo 61’ arrived at Darwin from Iwakuni on June 12 before departing to Iwakuni on June 15. It returned to Darwin on June 19 from Iwakuni this time using ‘Sumo 63’ before departing to Iwakuni on June 21.

US Marines KC-130J 167982/QD ‘Sumo 59’ arrived at Darwin from Iwakuni on June 7 before returning there on June 9.

US Air Force C-130H 74-1692/YJ ‘Trek 24’ arrived at Darwin from Andersen on June 2 and after overnighting returned to Andersen.

US Air Force C-130H 74-2061/YJ ‘Trek 23’ arrived at Darwin from Andersen on June 7 before returning there on June 8. It arrived again at Darwin from Andersen on June 9 and after overnighting returned to Andersen.

US Navy C-130T 165379 ‘Convoy 3542’ arrived at Darwin from Dili on June 27.

United States of America C-12J/1900C-1 86-0082 ‘Cats 24’ arrived in Darwin from Manado on June 24 and the following day departed for Alice Springs and Richmond. It departed Richmond on June 27 for Mount Isa and Darwin before continuing to Manado on June 28.

United States of America C-12U/King Air 200 84-0155 ‘Cats 12’ arrived in Darwin from Manado on June 22 before returning to Manado on June 26.

United States of America C-12U/King Air 200 84-0168 ‘Cats 44’ arrived in Darwin from Manado on June 22 and the following day departed for Alice Springs and Richmond. It departed Richmond on June 25 for Mount Isa and Darwin before continuing to Manado on June 26.
