Asia’s airlines are facing a pilot shortage
If there’s some cold comfort for the 100 or so Qantas pilots the troubled carrier is trying to convince to take redundancy it lies in the irony that while the Flying Kangaroo appears to have a surplus of cockpit crew, everyone else in the world is scrambling around trying to find enough pilots to hire.
True, they would have to leave the comforts of home to get a new job and would probably have to do a bit of retraining to convert from 767 or 747 flying to the 737 or A320, but across Asia the pilot shortage is becoming critical… again.
