Bombardier Aerospace has announced its orders and delivery tallies for its commercial and business aircraft production lines for the 2013 calendar year.
The company’s business aircraft lines delivered a total of 180 aircraft in 2013, an increase of just one aircraft over 2012, comprising 29 Learjets, 89 Challengers, and 62 Global series aircraft. Net orders for the company’s business aircraft dropped by 11 per cent over the previous year total of 343, with a total of 305 orders placed in 2013.
On the commercial side, Bombardier delivered 55 aircraft in 2013 compared to 50 the year before, comprising 29 Q400s and 26 CRJ Series aircraft. But orders for its commercial lines were also down from the previous year, with just 30 CRJs, 17 Q400s and 34 CSeries airliners ordered in 2013 for a total of 81, compared to 73, 50, 15 respectively for a total of 138 orders in 2012.
“The global economy has remained persistently sluggish, and with its recovery taking longer than originally anticipated, 2013 continued to be a challenging year for aviation,” Guy Hachey, president and chief operating officer, Bombardier Aerospace said in a statement. “Despite this difficult environment, we put in a solid performance overall. We had a successful order intake that included firm orders from a broad base of customers located in both traditional and emerging markets.”
