QAM preserves a unqiue part of Australian flying history

On May 21 F111C A8-129, in its original green and tan camouflage, made its final journey, appropriately at very low altitude on a low loader from Amberley to its new home, the Queensland Air Museum (QAM) at Caloundra airport.

Efforts by the QAM to get an F111 dated from a March 2005 when 7,000 signatures were added to a submission. Eventually after 23 had been buried in a local dump angering many, just six were approved for preservation. As no F111 will ever reach warbird status, also ending the spectacular signature dump and burns, static display is its sole memorial.
