The MRH 90 gains its sea legs
On July 11 at HMAS Albatross near Nowra, NSW, the Royal Australian Navy accepted into service its six new maritime support helicopter, the MRH-90 Taipan. The event formally culminated three years’ training, operational testing and evaluation and trials.
Under clear skies, the Taipan was inducted into the Fleet Air Arm before a large group of assembled guests, including
Chief of the Defence Force General David Hurley, Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Ray Griggs, Commander of the Australian Fleet Rear Admiral Tim Barrett, Commander of the Fleet Air Arm Commodore Vincenzo Di Pietro, and current and former 808SQN personnel.
