Lufthansa and leasing company ILFC have between them ordered 150 Airbus A320s. The announcements were made at the Paris airshow, which runs this week.

ILFC has signed a firm contract for 50 A320neo aircraft. ILFC was the first lessor to commit to the A320neo family with a firm order placed in 2011 for 100 aircraft. The company is Airbus’s largest customer, having ordered a combined total of 769 single-aisle and widebody Airbus aircraft.

Meanwhile, Europe’s largest Airbus customer, Lufthansa has signed for 100 A320 family aircraft (35 A320neo, 35 A321neo and 30 A320ceo with Sharklets).

Lufthansa has been operating A320 family aircraft since October 1989 and was the launch customer for the A321.

Airbus said the A320neo family has captured 60 per cent of the single-aisle market in just over two years since it was launched.
