$1.5bn EA-18G conversion approved
Minister for Defence Stephen Smith formally announced the RAAF’s acquisition of the EA-18G Growler electronic warfare capability in mid-August.
The decision to convert the 12 pre-wired RAAF F/A-18F Super Hornets had been floated in mid-2011, and was eventually included in the 2012 Defence Capability Plan, under project AIR 5349 Phase 3.
