A Royal Norwegian Air Force Lockheed P-3B Orion Squadron made an emergency landing on September 13 at its Andoya, Norway base after the port vertical tail of a shadowing Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker accidentally hit the P-3‘s outer starboard propeller over the Barents Sea. Both aircraft were seriously damaged but the Su-27 made a safe landing at its base in Kilpyavr,, Russia.
