Agusta and Russian Helicopters to develop new utility chopper

written by australianaviation.com.au | July 11, 2012
AgustaWestland and Russian Helicopters have announced plans to expand a partnership that already sees them cooperating in production of Agusta's AW139.

Russian Helicopters and AgustaWestland have announced plans to jointly develop a new 2.5 tonne class single-engine helicopter.

The companies said the new aircraft would be marketed worldwide for a broad range of applications. Development of the program will be split evenly between the two, they said.

AgustaWestland and Russian Helicopters formed a joint venture called HeliVert in 2010 to build Agusta’s AW139 helicopters for the Russian market.

The plan to develop the new helicopter was announced on July 10 at the Farnborough Airshow.
