Qantas takes delivery of its 175th Boeing narrowbody
It was perhaps symbolic that the wing of our 737-800 VH-VZS “Tamworth” with its striking winglet appeared to salute Mr Rainier just south of Seattle as we made several right hand turns towards our next destination –Hawaii – for the volcano dominates the skyline and overlooks the Boeing factories that have produced the majority of the 175th narrow body aircraft delivered to Qantas, Trans Australian Airlines and Australian Airlines.
The roster is impressive. According to Qantas Fleet Manager Scott Collins the airline has ordered direct from Boeing, Douglas Aircraft Company or McDonnell Douglas Corporation were;13 707-138s, 21 707-338s, 6 727-100s, 12 727-200s, 16 737-300, 20 737-400s, 52 737-800s, 12 DC-9-30s and 14 717s.
