Deliberate practice
One of the highlights of the annual calendar at Australian Aviation is the Regional Aviation Association of Australia’s annual convention.
Despite, or perhaps because of, its relaxed atmosphere, the event always draws a strong speaker list. This year’s convention was no exception, with addresses by key figures such as Transport Minister Anthony Albanese, CASA boss John McCormick and Airservices CEO Greg Russell. But it was the talk by Captain Richard Champion de Crespigny, captain of Qantas flight QF32 that suffered the dramatic uncontained engine failure shortly after takeoff from Singapore last November, that was the highlight of this year’s event.
