Challenges face key aviation professions

A steady stream of skilled professionals remains central to the aviation industry’s continued growth throughout Australia, with pilots, engineers and air traffic controllers (ATCs) all in demand.

Training organisations and industry associations have highlighted a number of issues facing each of those three critical job sectors, from ‘poaching’ pilots to the looming skills shortage in the maintenance sector, confusion over recent regulatory changes to maintenance qualifications, and the potential impact of the Senate enquiry into pilot training standards.
