Safety is no accident

Australia enjoys the world’s best RPT jet safety record – and a perfect fatality free record at that – so it comes as no surprise that there has been almost universal agreement that CASA did the right thing in grounding Tiger Airways in July.
Editorials around the country urged that any anger by passengers should be directed at Tiger, not CASA. “Their job is to protect passengers from the type of air disasters that beset other countries. Amid all the chaos, we should be grateful that our standards are as high as they are,” said one.
