Rolls-Royce has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Lockheed Martin to provide a number of “performance improvements” to the T56 family of engines, with its latest Series 3.5 engine enhancement kit.
“As operators continue to look for ways to extend the service life of their C-130, P-3 and L-100 aircraft, the Series 3.5 engine enhancement kit will offer them significant performance enhancements to enable more efficient operations for decades to come,” Rolls-Royce President-Defence Customer Business, Patricia O’Connell said.

Rolls-Royce says that it’s 3.5 enhancement kit would improve the standard T56 engine’s fuel efficiency by up to nine per cent, plus also offer increased turbine life and better performance in ‘hot and high’ operating conditions.
The T56 powers Lockheed’s C-130H, P-3 Orion and L-100 aircraft.
