Another Curtiss P40 Flies
Wangaratta, Vic. was the venue for the first post-rebuild flight of Curtiss P-40F Kittyhawk, VH-PIV on April 14. The pilot was Murray Griffiths. Murray is also listed as the owner of the WW2 fighter. The machine was placed on the Australian register on October 19 2010 with serial 41-19841. As an F model Kittyhawk the aircraft is a very unique machine as the only other flying F model in the world is Judy Pay’s VH-HWK based at Tyabb, Vic. The F model is Merlin engine powered unlike the majority of Kittyhawks that were Allison engine powered. It is understood that VH-PIV is to go to the UK for a new owner.
