The case for Tiger
The recent escalation of fighting in Afghanistan and corresponding rise in the number of Australian and allied casualties has again raised the spectre of whether our forces are appropriately equipped for the type of war they are fighting there.
Despite anonymous letters from the front line and from units about to deploy calling for heavier weapons and an organic close air support capability, on the advice of CDF, the government maintains Australia’s 1500 or so RTF and Special Forces are adequately equipped.
